- Ensure that you have DMC2.dll in your system32 folder. If not, right-click this, select "Save as..." and save in C:\Windows\System32\
- Use Google or dll-files.com to find msvbvm50.dll and ieshims.dll
- Download both files and open with WinRar or whatnot
- Copy and paste msvbvm50.dll into C:\Windows\System32\
- Copy and paste ieshims.dll into C:\Windows\System32\
- Open command prompt in administrator mode (right-click, Run as administrator)
- Copy and paste this command:
- regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\DMC2.ocx
- Press enter, should say registry was successful
- Open the game and have fun

It worked. Thank you!
...now I need to figure out why I'm getting "Error in CreateFromFile function." Run-time error 430, etc.

Great. A fix that works, and apparently the installer won't install because of 'invalid data'. I freakin' hate technology.

I've gotten this error as well. From what I've been able to determine, the Run-time error stems from the program trying to access one or more library files that either don't exist or it can't find. The CreateFromFile error is probably a result of the 430 - most information suggests running a registry cleaner, though I'm not sure how well this applies to Vista. In any case, giving it a try now, so... I'll let you know if it works.
Edit: Well, that's a no on my end.

You can use MPQExtractor to unpack data.pak file.

I managed to extract the VRPGData.txt from the .pak, if that helps anyone...

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
Wait, what? Someone got the game to work on Windows 7?
I once managed to get to the title screen but then it froze. I did that like a year ago, then raged when I couldn't get any further.
EDIT: Well, this failed for me. I can't register the damn files. :\ I keep getting this error. On Windows 7, FYI. Same shit happens when I try to do it with SysWOW64. -_-

Same Problem on Vista here. And I am working as an admin, so that should not be the problem (what I thought I could be first).

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
I followed all the steps above and got the same error message. I know that a while ago I tried just putting the DMC2.ocx file where it was supposed to go and I started to get the cannot create from file error so any help will be appreciated.

I suppose an easier fix all together would be to go to the command prompt and type Format C:
vista is filled with problems and it's not worth the effort......either go back to XP or go with Win 7.....there's no point trying to bugfix a OS that isn't worth the time or effort

Trouble is we can't get this game to work in Windows 7 anyway.
And the Vore RPG, as fun as it is, is allegedly very badly programmed.

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
It would be nice to create a BOOT CD with the game on it in a functioning level. Been thinking about it.
Last time it worked for me was in XP. And apparently many code libraries were dropped (By MS themselves due to feeling its just Legacy code) in various versions of windows that it can easily break.
The issues I have had in addition to the legacy code being dropped is the security overkill on 'write' permissions in Vista, Win 7 is easier but even more of the code is dropped. Virtual PC on Win 7 is another thing to try, that with XP on Win 7 is a NICE combo for any older games. Two different modes you can do it.
Its not badly programmed, as much as legacy code. Code that Microsoft Dropped and did not realize others MIGHT be using.
The game is really really good. Dated as it is, its great fun....
Which stands to explain why so many to so many hours trying to get the thing working again. We miss it.

I wish someone could design a game of similar gameplay. :\
The part I liked most was how you could see the progression of digestion on your character through digested clothing, or even flesh if your health was low enough. Plus, unlike VGame, you didn't have to click for every action. So you could just sit and watch your character gurgle.

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
Following the steps above was such a tease. Game loaded and worked and I created a character and chose abilities, then I got the 430. I've been a lurker, but like the rest of you, I've been trying to make thing game work for a long damn time.
I have two ideas:
Firstly, this error message occurs when we create characters, right? Some people are reporting that they've gotten past it. Perhaps if someone could start the game and create a save file immediately and upload that on megaupload, rapidshare, etc., then we could download the save and try to just load the game. Perhaps it would just leapfrog the error message?
Also, has anyone tried making this work with VirutalPC? Microsoft seems to have realized that everything about Vista blows and created the program so that you could run XP on your Vista machine without having to steal the OS and run two on your PC at once. I'd try it myself, but apparently you have to have Vista Ultimate or some similar version, and my fucking Home Premium just doesn't cut it. I'd be very interested to hear if this works!
Keep at it, friends. We're closer than we've been in a long time to making this work.

The problem with virtualPC is you need a valid serial code for the OS you wish to run in the virtual box, so really it doesn't fix much.
