The Mansion 1: The Dark Demon Mansion - Page 49 - Use the cleanse - By Dragonblaze - Overview
You hold your ritualistic chalk with both of your index and thumbs right in the middle. After a quick pull down, the chalk breaks in two.

You examine the area to look for a good spot to setup the chalk you plan to grind into dust.

As you examine the area, you find one of the cages is still functional. This cage has a heavy iron door latch which looks strong enough to contain a strong beast inside once the cage is closed. This cage is placed against the left wall, around the middle of the room.

You also find a pile with several iron padlocks. You notice that one of them appears to be still functioning.

All of these items will help out with your idea. You grind your chalk and decide to spread out a meter thick carpet of the chalk in a straight line. You start from the gate of the cage, then you go all the way to the opposite wall. You do your best to spread it enough and mix it with the dust in the room. You want it to be hard to be detected by the strange Fox in case she's afflicted by a demonic possession.

You know that as soon as the Fox stands over the carpet of holy chalk, you will be able to discover if she is under demonic influence. In the worst case scenario, you will be able to throw her into the functioning cage and lock her there to perform a proper ritual.

You remove the small cages in the area and leave everything clear for both yourself and the Fox.

You return fast to the spot where you left the vulpine. She looks at you with a wide grin. You inform her that the dog kennels are safe from the so called monsters.

The vulpine swishes her tail in excitement as she goes through the small crack to follow you back into the kennels.

The Fox walks inside the kennel room and follows you close. You hold your breath as you lure the Fox who is walking behind you into the trap you prepared.

In the moment she steps over the sprinkled white dust, you can hear a surreal cry of discomfort.

After that, the mysterious Fox jumps back with the same urgency as if she had stepped on a burning piece of iron.

You were right about suspecting something wicked about this Fox.

“What have you done to me!?”

You notice that the Fox landed on all fours over the wall. Her body is also twisting in the crudest demonstration of demonic skill you can imagine as she crawls towards the ceiling. She releases more sounds of protest. Her demonic display doesn't end there. You can see that she has nine tails protruding from where she once had only one.

She is no mortal afflicted by demons. She is a demonic Fox.

The chalk and the cleansing line were strong enough to weaken her. She twists and turns, falling to the ground. Soon, she slows her struggles, and stops fighting it.

That's strange. The cleanse wasn't a proper ritual, so it shouldn't have affected her the way it did.

Before you could contemplate any further, the Fox seems to recover from the ritual. She looks around, almost like she doesn't recognise where she is.

"I… can think properly? What…" she looks straight at you, and freezes up. "Y-you! How did you break the Spell?"

You don't know what is going on, nor understand what she's saying. You keep a cautious stance, interrogating her about what she is talking about.

"You… you mean, you don't know about the Spell?"

You demand that she explain what this "Spell" is.

"The Spell. It's what allows the demons here to manifest in this mansion. It's what keeps them here. It twists them to some strange… something, no one here knows what. That's because once it sets in firmly enough, you just… change. I…" the Fox's eyes widened, looking at you with a pleading gaze, "di-did I try and… and, take over your mind?"

You try to think, and say that her eyes did look particularly nice at the stairs. She lets out a gasp, and buries her face in her hands.

"Oh no, I really went off the deep end. I tried to put you under a spell of my own," the Fox tries to turn away from you, and you swear you could hear her crying.
