Leaving the toy on the ground you turned towards the stove, interested in what she had been cooking before your arrival and the subsequent interruption.
On your way to the kitchen, you notice another flight of stairs, going down. You don't see anyone, but you can hear what sounds like a TV. You ignore it for now and walk into the kitchen.
The kitchen seems fairly big, although a table in the middle of the room makes it seem cramped. There's a fridge next to the door, a sink on the left wall, another table to the right, and a stove/oven on the far wall.
Even though she was still cooking, there's already enough food on the table in the middle of the room to feed five people. Well, five "normal" people.
Right next to the stove is a large metal door, that seems out of place in a dusty, old-fashioned kitchen like this.
