Without a second thought, you turn and run. Your sudden flight takes Gorlak by surprise, and his moment of hesitation gives you the head start you need. Leaves slap your face and brambles lash your bare skin as you fly through the underbrush. You hear a roar of anger behind you, the thundering of the troll's footsteps growing louder and louder as he closes in on you. With renewed vigor and a rush of terror-induced adrenaline, you shoot through the woods at a blinding speed. Your heart hammers loud in your ears and your breath comes ragged as you push yourself beyond the breaking point. Your muscles scream in agony as you force yourself onward. And yet, you can still hear Gorlak coming! As your body nears the point of utter exhaustion, you realize that you can't outrun this troll. You need to hide. Your burst of speed has bought you a few seconds, but there's not much time before he'll be able to see you!
Frantically, you look around. You hardly recognize the forest around you. Ancient moss-covered trees reach skyward, blocking out most of the light... strange orchids cling to trunks and vines, their multicolored blooms vibrant against their emerald backdrop... a gargantuan magenta flower the size of a truck fills the air with an intoxicatingly sweet aroma. This primeval landscape can't posssibly be the Faybrook Woods. You shake your astonishment as Gorlak's pounding footsteps draw ever closer. You only have a few seconds! Quick! Where do you hide?!?
