I love this. More world-building, more talk of Kira as a predator, and her thoughts about her somewhat predatory habits. Excellent description of setting, pacing, and character development. This is the kind of chapter that I'd pay for. Plenty of possible narrative branches to take from here, and I enjoy the anticipation of wanting to know what happens next, even if I don't enjoy the wait between chapters. I only fear that I won't enjoy what follows. Also, I hope we see Kira realize some latent power that never manifested before - that would make for a n even more fascinating story. Here's hoping.

I read the entire old version of the story between this chapter and the previous one, and it's amazing to consider that Kira used to be almost solely a pred, considering what's happened to her here.

I felt like Kira in the old story was just too flat of a character. Having a build up to being a pred was much more interesting to write.

Made an update to this chapter just now. In hindsight, the way Sharlene described the UK as a being racist toward nagas isn't only rude to the UK, but I had one British resident tell me it just doesn't feel that accurate to what their country is like today.
As they described it, "So long as you act British, no one really cares where you're from," and they made some historic references as to how the UK has been way more progressive on such issues due to their nature as a former world-spanning empire. I thus changed it to be more flattering toward the UK without changing my original intent of explaining how the USA reacts to having nagas.
