My own preferences lead me to hope that the dog's chewing has damaged the container just enough for it to now be ready to fail at any moment. While she probably doesn't have room to grow back to her full size in there, it would both make her current situation more obvious, and make her eventual extraction more difficult, both of which appeal to me.
