One large and one small komodo dragons take their time sharing a live local deer. A real good one in my opinion.

Good catch. I have noticed quite the uptick in Komodo Dragon videos. So much so I have added that to my daily search. But it doesn't always come up because they are often uploaded in another language so you have to search a bit. I honestly didn't know until rather recently that they often eat their prey alive after it is incapacitated. I don't know what happened to this deer and his one Antler.....looks like a big damn hole to me and it looks infected? Maybe that is why he was down in the first place? BTW, It is difficult to determine the sex of Komodo's just by looking at them. There are some differences but it isn't completely accurate. I would say in this case both the large one and the smaller are males just from their body type but it is difficult to be sure.
And btw, where is everyone? We used to have quite a group here on this thread?

It is a very old threat with some very slow period. I guess it makes sense to some degree that people end up moving on or simply forgetting about it. And even one or two doing so is heavily felt in the regularity of people posting new findings.
Unfortunate as it may be given that it is a very unique forum thread to be sure!

I saw that too, the animal has lost an antler and the hole in his head is full of flies, presumably maggots too. The poor thing is probably sick and thus easier prey for the komodos.
From summer 2018, one we missed; crocodiles taking down zebras at a river crossing. Their hunting technique has been documented more often in recent years: bite the prey's soft belly and eviscerate the struggling animal, devour its guts alive.
https://youtu.be/1s0kq0LM_FU?t=39 and at https://youtu.be/1s0kq0LM_FU?t=141 two animals are taken this way. https://youtu.be/1s0kq0LM_FU?t=230 one is graphically torn apart by deathrolling.

Crocs are "efficient"and that is an understatement. The first Zebra is being ripped apart under the water and up comes blood and undigested grass material and other things. In many ways it's far more horrific because you cannot see what they are doing under the water, you have to imagine it. Obviously the Zebra is being disemboweled as he stands there, but it is creepy as hell when left to the imagination.

Oh my god, I watched this. I'm a veteran of these kinds of videos, living the prey's experiences as I die with him or her. And this one horrified even me. He lasted for so long, minute after agonizing minute of them pulling his guts out and I thought he was NEVER going to be given the merciful release of death. I think he was actually dying at the end, after almost 5 minutes, but the video ended about then so I'm not 100% sure. What a way to die, I felt every minute.
(Confirmed dolcett meatboy, snake snack and hard vore prey)

unfortunately i did not have enough free time to try finding that clip's source yet, but i'm planning on giving it a try once things get calmer!! unfortunately all i have is the link for the reddit itself, maybe someone can try asking around and see if someone knows the source? there was someone mentioning having the full video on the comments of the thread, but unfortunately the person was handing it through dms, and seeing the comments are over 4 months over, i doubt we'd be able to get a reply
still!! that gives me hope that the full video exists somewhere, if i find a longer version or a video of the entire kill i'll make sure to post update!

edit: i sent a dm to the person, hopefully we can get a reply

I have the video of it, but it's not worth it. All it is is that exact gif with the people of that safari tour talking over it.

Ah damn, that's unfortunate :/ thank you for letting us know though, at least that spares us from looking around trying to find it. It's still a great scene regardless, even if it could have been longer.
I do wish we at least had the scene for the hunt, I just today noticed that the zebra has a broken leg and I was curious if it happened during the chase or the lioness found it like that already

This one is just incredible. Two Komodo Dragons feasting on a live pregnant deer. The big lizard pulls the fully alive and kicking male baby out and swallows him down kicking and struggling in one gulp while the mother watches it all happen. The Mother simply does not die....more than half of her is swallowed down and you can watch the lizards belly swell with meat while she looks on. Finally she passes out at the end....but wow....just WOW!

Holy shit, that's a good one :O Nice find
Just posted a few days ago too. Do you by any chance have a way to save videos from youtube? They have a frustrating tendency to randomly disappear sometimes, but this one's a keeper...

I was going to ask the same. However, it appears there are several videos of this same incident. I hope that makes it safe. I am interested in any input on how to download and save youtube videos tho. I don't know why SO MANY disappear.

Incredible footage of some amazing reptilian feeding behavior! Video above is available in 1080p also.
I use a number of websites to download from youtube. Y2mate is a good one but do NOT click on any ads or buttons, they are malware.

Here's another that captures a few that others will not, no need to download the app, just wait for the bar to appear near the top of the page and paste the youtube link into it, and click download now. If it launches the video in a new window, just pause and right click to "save video as".

Pretty awesome! The video seems to be shared by two uploaders who collaborated and already stolen and reuploaded by a third.
It's something we may have heard of before but never seen so clearly as this. The unborn is plucked from the warm sustaining confines of its mother's stomach, lightly seasoned with some forest floor dirt, and immediately swallowed down into the warm, suffocating confines of a new stomach.

Very typical kill here with two exceptions....the warthog is very much alive but doesn't squeal in that annoying way they usually do....he just lets the girls enjoy their meal in peace. Chivalry is not dead! LOL.....So now you can hear EVERYTHING going on as they feast. Crunchy crunchy, munch munch tear tear....Yikes that sound is nuts. Volume up please!

From a laserdisc release, A 50 year old clip featuring something not seen in decades, African Wild Dogs successfully bringing down a grown zebra. It was edited on it's initial release but retains enough gory detail to be of interest.
https://youtu.be/Am_MpH7Xt8w?t=1882
The technique demonstrated for subduing a zebra must have been a skill lost in time and not easily relearned.

Yes, a lost art for wild dogs. They are so rare now it is a crime. Jane Goodall was married to a guy named Hugo Van Lawick back in the 60's and into the 70's. He produced several books, one called "The Spotted Hyena" and he also did a few books on African hunting dogs one called "Innocent killers" the pictures inside of which are incredibly graphic for the era (nothing compared to what we see these days though) which I still have. He didn't hold back on his descriptions of the hunts/kills he witnessed and really, neither did Jane Goodall in some of her books. It was all good material back in the day and I spent quite a few days searching the University Library for interesting stuff, lol.
