Actually there is another way to avoid the DMC2 error. I just tried it under win7 and it worked.
- copy DMC2.ocx in the game folder
- copy msvbvm50.dll in the game folder (it is a DMC2.ocx dependencie)
- launch the game ... it should go.
if it doesnt, find and copy also msvbvm60.dll in the game folder.
if it starts, but hangs or froze at the main screen, remove the file "bass.dll" which should be in game folder. You'll have an error msg but the game will work.
...
now I'll try to deal with the error 430. As said before, it sounds like an API compatibility issue. "430" error code mean "Class doesnt support OLE Automation", which mean we have to look for any hotfixes for OLE Automation under winvista/win7.
thanks! this worked for me :3
getting this game fully functioning on windows 7 is possible but annoying
also Virtual XP (the one Microsoft is giving away to anyone with the "full versions" of windows 7 (Ultimate and Enterprise) does not work, it gives a run-time error "5" probably from the way it emulates system memory.

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
Hey, I tried all of these fixes:
ieshims.dll
msvbvm50.dll
msvbvm60.dll
d3drm.dll
and bass.dll deleted
All copied where it said, on Win7 64-bit, and it ran enough to get me through char. creation and to the first dungeon where your character awakens.
Then, when I ran into a wall (or an enemy, grr!), I got this error:
Run-time error '-2147418105 (80010007)':
Automation error
The callee (server [not server application]) is not available and
disappeared; all connections are invalid. The call may have
executed.
So... anyone got a fix?

For the two last post : The error -2147418105 and hangs-at-start behavior are solved by the same thing : find a new bass.dll file. Available all over internet.
Especially there, the version of that one should work fine
bass.dll
best regards

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
Hey back,
vista/7 user may be missing two more DLL, vb6stkit.dll and comdlg32.ocx .
I discovered that after a clean reinstall of my computer.
Also, here is my new year's gift : a new VRPG setup !
http://www.mediafire.com/file/57w99v1u1 ... 4Setup.exe
I used nullsoft installer to repack all the DLLs and the game main files. It will also register the files for you. You wont need duam's installer anymore. I tested it under vista and 7, but i'm not sure for the other OS (yet).
Note : it wont create shortcut or anything, you'll have to do your own.

Re: Fix for DMC2.ocx in VRPG for Vista
Does that means it works ? You all could play VRPG right after using the new setup ?
If it's the case, shall we say officialy that "Duamutef's Glorious Vore RPG now can be played under vista and 7" ?
I may ask for the moderator to do a special post-it topic about that. Please give me your feedback

Thanks, massive!
This is excellent, except for one thing: Characters that I create still can't equip weapons. If they do, the game says "Stop Statement Encountered" and immediately shuts down. According to same brief research I did, this is a generic VBA error message. Any idea what might have caused it?

Yes, try the game w/o your antivirus activated
or : run "as administrator"
or : move the main game files (not the folder! just the files inside) in your "my document" place.
or : remove all the pictures files (gif and jpeg) from within the game directory, if any, along with any VDATA* text file.

I'd like to thank you all. I've been searching for a way to get this to work and I've found it. Thanks again. This should be stickied.
