Blessings of the Forest (giantessfanx and Zephyr42)

Sagelia nodded again, this time in acknowledgement. “Mom? Dad?” She said, getting her parents’ attention. “Bart and I came to see you for a bit more than just to introduce him to you. We also came by to let you know that… our little family is about to get a bit bigger.”

It was quiet for a moment as the words sunk in. “Sagelia, you’re pregnant?” Kelsaa breathed. “Oh sweetie that’s wonderful.” She exclaimed when Sagelia nodded with a tentative smile, jumping up and hugging her daughter.

“Well, well. Congratulations you two. Looks like you’re stuck now boy.” Vikali said, throwing Bart a smile.

As the family reacted well, Bart couldn't help smiling as well. "That I am," he told Vikali. "And I don't think I'd have it any other way.

The rest of the day was spent with Sagelia’s parents giving her and Bart various bits of advice on parenthood, discussing possible names for the child and more. For Sagelia at least it was a relief when the sun went down and they all retired for the night. As opposed to a cave underground, Vikali and Kelsaa had made their home in the branches of a giant tree as a series of nest-like structures.

“Today went better than I expected.” Sagelia said to Bart as they cuddled up in one of the empty nests, “I’m glad you and Mom are getting along. I knew you and Dad would, but I was concerned about Mom.”

Bart nodded as he wrapped his arms around Sagelia's body. "Yeah," he said with a bit of a chuckle. "Your Mom had me worried, too." Then he remembered what the mom had told him. "Sage, did your mother ever tell you how she met your father?"

“They’ve mentioned it once or twice.” Sagelia said with a shrug, “Dad found her unconscious one day and she screamed when she woke up and saw him, practically scaring him out of his skin. You know, that’s kinda like how we met now that I think about it.”

"That it is." That didn't really answer Bart's question, so he decided to go a little more roundabout. "Where did your parents come from?" he asked. "I've lived kind of a sheltered life."

“As far as I know they were born here in the forest. I never heard of a naga coming from elsewhere.” Sagelia said with a shrug.

Bart nodded. He wanted to be very careful about how he phrased his next words. It wasn't just his life he could be uprooting, it could be Kelsaa's as well. His hands slipped lower, covering his wife's belly, and their growing child. "Sage... what if I were to tell you I came from somewhere else?"

“Well, I would be surprised that there were nagas beyond the forest.” Sagelia said. She placed a hand on his as she continued, “Then I’d say it doesn’t matter to me where you come from, because I love you.”

Bart smiled as he heard that. "I'm glad," he said. "I love you too." As he leaned in and kissed his wife, he decided to drop the questions. They weren't that important for the moment. They'd deal with that if it came up.

After a moment Sagelia let their kiss end. “Unless my folks guilt us into doing otherwise, we should probably head out after breakfast tomorrow. You think we should head home or go see your parents to deliver the news to them first?”

And then it came back up. "Well..." Bart had to think about this. "They're a pretty long way away. Have you ever been to the city?"

“The city?” Sagelia asked. “Oh, you mean that big collection of human dens? I saw it off in the distance when I ventured to the forest’s edge one time. I’ve never gone to it; figured it was like raiding a beehive, whatever good stuff you managed to get wouldn’t be worth all the stings.”

OK, he could use that. "Well, they're on the other side of that," he said. "Very close to the city." He tried to be honest, but paint an unappealing picture of where they lived.

“I see…” Sagelia said. She was quiet for a moment before saying, “I’m sorry Bart. I’d love to meet your parents and give them the news of our child, but I just don’t feel comfortable exposing our unborn child to that level of risk.”

Bart nodded. "I don't blame you," he said. Despite his relief ducking both outing her mom and himself as ex-humans, Bart couldn't help feeling sad at not telling his parents what they were missing. So he just pulled his wife tighter to him, running his finger over her belly. "Maybe when she's bigger."

“Maybe when they’re bigger.” Sagelia agreed, letting her hand rest on his. She glanced up at the night sky through a break in the tree canopy, “We should probably get to sleep. We’ve got a long journey ahead tomorrow.”

"Yeah." Bart's hand patted his wife's tummy. "Well, see you in the morning." He kissed Sagelia on the cheek, then pulled her in closer to him, giving her one of his shoulders to rest her head on. Before he closed his eyes, though, a question occurred to him. "How long until you start showing, you think?" he asked. He wanted to ask when he could feel their child moving, but that could be gap of knowledge that set off alarm bells.

“I’d say probably a in week or so.” Sagelia said, letting her head rest on his offered shoulder. “See you in the morning sweetie.” She added as her eyes drifted closed.

Bart nodded. "Can't wait to see them," he replied. "So to speak." As Sage drifted off, Bart pulled her in a little tighter, nestling his face in her hair. "See you in the morning."
