Jon is leaning on either giant meat on a stick or sitting area. He would think that the fine dining10 gp would be way too expensive at the moment.

He is definitely not wanting to go back to the place with the orc who keeps stealing others peoples food.

"I'm all for sitting down and having a nice meal before going out to hunt monsters once more." Jon contemplates out loud.

Upon arrival at the eating areas, Breila takes a moment to consider her options, which is not limited to the choice of foodstuffs. Eventually she makes her choice, though that choice would definitely hurt her in the coinpurse. Before doing anything, she casts a quick Cure Light Wounds spell on herself so as to not give the appearance of being wounded... though the only thing that had hurt her the entire time was the aura of decay.

https://orokos.com/roll/702245 Restoring 8 HP to self

Now that her health is topped off and technically doesn't need to lick her wounds anymore, she steps ahead of the rest of the party, turns around to face them, then adjusts her fake glasses.

"I think that I'll network with the fine diners. Y'know, get to know a few people, maybe chat up some old acquaintances," she says to the others, turning her head toward the fine dining area. She could eventually get at least one of them in her pocket, too, though she doesn't say that part out loud. "I don't think I'll have a problem going in there alone..." she extends a hand out to the group with a smile, offering for (at least) one of them to take it. "But it is generally proper conduct to go to those kinds of places with a date."

Adriaan keeps a look around, trying to weigh his own options. There being quite a few of them, he takes a while. Then Brelia mentions heading to the high society places and that channels his thoughts. On the one hand, expensive and more connected to people who might notice him. On the other, he would need to find out more about these people at some point, so now seems good, while he's got a good deed to his name. Besides, he's eager to learn more about his companions and his gaudy get-up should turn some heads around.

Thus, he reaches out and takes her hand in his. "That sounds like a fine plan, milady," he tells her with a smile. "I'd be only too happy to join you." He then draws her hand up to his lips and gives it a kiss. "Besides, I do owe you for saving my life yesterday." He remembers that she and Nilia are at least somewhat close, though, and she did enjoy his sense of fashion. Therefore, he stands back a little to let the naga raise any objections, and quickly backs away if there are any.

Nilia would let out a soft chuckle in return to the blacksmith, nodding away at the offer as she handed them the four gold pieces. She would of course hope she wouldn't keep missing and wasting javelins, but so far that didn't seem all that likely!

As for food, Nilia was actually completely onboard with Jon's preference for giant meat on a stick, or a sitting area, whatever offered the most reasonably smelling and looking meat per gold really! She had gotten enough of dainty, high class cooking where the portions were tiny, unnecessarily complex and the aesthetic and presentation is just as important as the taste! Besides, battle really pique the noodle's appetite, so when snacking on the enemy isn't a option, you've got to go for the next best, most filling meal!

Thus, there weren't a trace of jealousy in Nilia's eyes as the two kitties locked hands, in fact, she was kinda glad she wasn't roped into it on account of her noble upbringing! With a slight smile the big lamia stated, "It might be worth it, if only for the possibility to find a more high-paying job offer! Best of luck to you guys with that!", then drawing a slightly uncertain look, asked, "Though, uh, Adriaan? Do you know about any like, affordable buffet places around, or a decent restaurant with huge portions, since lunch here was your idea and all?"

(Local knowledge = 11: http://orokos.com/roll/702489 . With permission from the GM here...)

Adriaan had never really gone to any kind of restaurant, on account of his usually being quite broke. Still, his memory serves him well enough for one such place. "Try the Eleven Lumps," he says. "It's the big building with the lumpy silver snake above the door, two blocks east."

This leads to what looks like it used to be a warehouse. Sure enough, there's a snake above the door, eleven lumps in its long stomach. A kobold collects 15 silver for admission before passing out a deep, massive plate to each customer. Inside there are long tables loaded with practically every dish that's in season: steamed venison nuggets, spicy beef sausages, brussels sprouts cooked in honey and bacon, slices of poached greylink, everything. There are even live rodents and lizards next to finger bowls of various spice powders.

When the crowd surrounds the others, Irice sort of just stays back, not really all that into any sort of praise for work she'd hardly done much in, except for healing herself up after nearly dying to the Aura of Decay. She's glad that the child's safe and watches as Kay chastises him to be careful, and though she thinks of protesting when the mayor gives her a share of the money, practicality wins out and she empties the 25 gold into her own pouch. "Sorry I wasn't much use in this fight." Irice apologizes to the others, though her short stature makes moving in and out of range to engage something like the plant creature more difficult, as she's more used to fighting individuals at a far closer range with her shield to protect her. She also peruses what the Blacksmith has to offer before following the others, though a bit more critical about his work since she's an armorer. She knows the basics of smithing, though to make weapons is something she's much less skillful with than armor.

As she's ruminating on how useless she is in combat, she listens to the others discuss their dining arrangements, watching the kitties seem to want to find a fancy area to eat. For herself, she's more than content in joining Nilia in buying simple food, meat on a stick, as she's pretty tight with her gold even though she can afford eating the fancy place ten times over with her more dwarven practicalities. "I think I'll join you if you don't mind Nil, on account of being starving myself. Could use some good drinks too." Looking at Brelia and Adriaan she tells them to "Let her know what the next job might be." So she can be sure to be prepared for whatever they're doing next, whether tracking down the plant creature or something less dangerous (to her) instead.

(( OOC! Alright, so my last post, I had in a roundabout manner asked who was at lowest health to heal them for 5 HP, but I got ZERO reply. Since Razgriz is kind and allowing 4 hp healed to be the minimal healed, I'm a bit better off than before. I had been at 5/11 before the 4 healing was applied, now I'm at 20/22 (due to level up and lucky level roll.) Does anybody WANT or NEED the other 5 HP of healing since I used both of my spells earlier?!?! (End of OOC Rant, now for Irice shopping.) I'd like for Irice to purchase from the Blacksmith 6 Javelin with Amentum attached to them (or something she'll attach to them during downtime.) 4 Pilum, and 1 Chakram. ))

With her invitation to fine dining having been accepted by none other than Adriaan, Brelia pulls the cat boy back toward her and potentially pulling him against her if he's not careful or unwilling. "Looks like it's you and me, Adriaan. I hope you don't mind me splitting the bill," she says sweetly before turning to Nilia. "I don't know if these are the types we'd want to be employed by, considering my history with one of them, but I'll do a little digging in that regard."

Back at the blacksmith's shop, the naga would have patted warpriest ally and friendly rival on the shoulder and simply stated, "That Bulby plant was a giant, annoying piece of shit, and the situation was pretty fucked from the start! I only got in one solid hit myself with all the damn vines in the way.", before taking interest in what the oread was purchasing! Upon asking about the purpose of the leather wrapping of the javelins, and probably getting the explanation, if that was indeed something the blacksmith had in stock, Nilia would have liked to get a pair of those for herself!

Nilia gave a quick nod at Adriaan's suggestion and directions, then drew a very genuine smile, which was a pretty rare occurrence, as her smiles usually were quite stiff! Giving the feline a thumbs up and a teasing, "I hope the food there is good, or I might make you pick up where the Eleven Lumps left off!", followed by a quick lick of her lips, the serpentine fighter would turn to her other party members that had yet to voice interest in fancy dining. Nodding at Irice and smiling away, though again rather stiffly, Nilia would muse, "I'm glad, it's nice having someone you know around, even if one is busy with dinner!"

Wether anyone else joined or not, Nilia would slither down to the Eleven Lumps, taking a moment to ask around as Adriaan's directions weren't exactly spot on, but close enough, before finding the right place. Though initially a bit skeptical, as she did hail from a finer section of society, despite her dislike and aversion for it, after a thorough look-around for suspicious elements, as well as any written introduction to the establishment, or rules of conduct, the hungry naga would pay the kobold for the entry fee, get her plate, and start shamelessly piling up a large variety of meats on her platter, as much as she could fit, even while 'sneakily' taking sampling mouthfuls of each meaty dish while still at the buffet table! Though she didn't get any rodents or lizards on her plate, only swallowing a few of the lizards right by their bowl, as to not have them wiggle around and possibly topple her tower of other food.

(Perception check, if it is applicable to 'examine' the Eleven Lumps as a dining locale. 1d20+4 = 15+4 = 19 https://orokos.com/roll/703712 )

(( Nilia is down 7 health, but she has a pretty high pool of HP, so I thought someone else would surely be more in need of the healing than her. But if no one else wants them, I'll gladly take that healing! ))

Jon would follow Nilia to the Eleven Lumps.
He thought the sign to the place looked funny, whereas he then looked over to Nilia, thinking to himself:
"At least they know their customers."

He paid the agreed upon entry free to the guard and started picking out food that was recognizeable as something that was edible.
He would sit next to Nilia once they've found a suitable table.

"Did we agree where to meet up after we've eaten?" He asked, chewing his way through what he assumed was some sort of poultry.

Kay, for her own part, after untangling herself from the kid doesn't seem particularly interested be either fine dining or a massive buffet. She'd had one huge meal the day before, and her faun metabolism wasn't quite up to the same feats of processing that, say, a naga's was. The entire party'd picked one of those two places, though, but Kay didn't much mind. Instead of that, she finds some shady, dirt-cheap place just to get a quick bowl of watery soup before heading over towards the job board. Mayor'd given them one good lead, but you never just had one thing in mind at a time. Bad hustle. She'd wait for the others to finish binging and get some intel while she could.

(( The healing would have gone to Nilia it seems then to put her down three health ))

With Nilia copying her at the blacksmith slightly, Irice can only smirk about being more knowledgeable about weapons than the naga, though with the scaled one being slightly stronger than she is, she decides it's wise not to discuss her ignorance and merely nods in agreement after she explained what Amentum could do for Javelins, though she doesn't tell her why she'd bought Pilums...which of course, was to use against shielded foes, and of course her chakram is just a reusable ranged weapon that won't break as easily.

After being informed by Adriaan that the options were basically cheap meat on a stick or something else that was likely cheap but less appetizing about the Eleven Lumps, Irice looks at the neko couple with a sigh. "Bet you Adriaan will be curled around Brelia's finger enough to curl up in her stomach when she requests it, watcha think?" She inquires of Nilia as she agrees the Eleven Lumps does sound more appetizing and takes off towards there with the naga and the human. When she pays the fairly cheap 15 silver entree fee she is quite satisfied with the overall spread, though she thinks to devour the living morsels and feel them squirm down her throat versus eating the more common food first, and is very pleased to feel several creatures slither into her maw and inside her stomach. "Much better than meat on a stick, even if more expensive. Wonder if any of the staff is for sale." She ponders aloud idly. "Not that I condone that sort of thing, but something larger than lizards and rodents...yum." In addition to her large platter, she orders "A half a dozen tankards of dwarfen ale! Celebrate being alive!" She says loudly and boisterously, winking at Nilia and Jon before scanning the crowd for any likely threats or potential contacts.

(( Time for me to emulate Nilia with a perception roll, http://orokos.com/roll/704468 12+9=21. Ordering the platter and however much 6 good dwarfen ales cost. ))

(i said this to others; feel free to invent your own food places, so long as they fall within one of the three values previously mentioned. Cheap; 15sp, medium 1gp, expensive 10gp.)

Brelia is correct in that the fine dining establishment tended to cater to pairs or more, so when the stuffy waiter sizes her up at his podium to seat, he takes a moment to smile and introduce them. Though, the 'giant meat on a stick' stand did have a few crude tables and chairs - but nothing really that would support anyone in huge armour or a big body (or a big belly). Cheap furniture laid out in the ornate stonework of the public area for convinience more than much else. "Welcome-" The waiter spoke, holding his hand out expectantly for it to be filled with gold. "-To The Master Worksmith." The theme of this one was the pride of the collesium and their equipment, it seemed. With (albiet fake) examples of the history of the place lining the walls. From paintings of past fighters and their victories, to trophies and equipments on stands and mounts.

Once 20gp had been provided to the waiter; the kitties are treated to being lead to a quiet table. Other diners seem to be franchise owners, owners of successful fighters and other high-value individuals. 'Nobility' in this city was more to do with what money you made than any distinct heritage. Though there was a kind of respect for fighter-owners in particular, as if they worked hard to train those beneath them to succeed. And perhaps thats the kind of talk the two might overhear. The food here smelled quite esquisite and drinks seemed to be part of the initial charge - giving them an open bar to play with.

Meanwhile the others at the Eleven Lumps would find other like-minded and greedy individuals who prefer cheap, chearful and plenty of it. It didn't nessicarily taste of anything besides 'being cooked', so it wasn't bad. But it wasn't flavoured in any special way. Nor did it seem like a great place to meet and greet.

Finally, Kay bumps shoulders with someone pinning a new article on the information board she decided to check out. It usually featured jobs, too. "Ah, you wanna th' ones who saved the kid right?" He shakily greeted with a smile. A human a bit on the meek side, but she seemed pretty good otherwise. "I usually write mostun the stories and stuff for people around here." She gestures to the written article she pegged up, surprisingly better grammar and flow than her actual speech. It was informing people of the jist of the events that went on with the large plant creature, explaining the disappearances could be associated to it. Then going on to ask who might see these people freed from the tyranny of the forest. Nearby there's a desire for woof teeth to make a necklace, some requests of herbs and special fruits to cure paralysis from a brewster and less interesting jobs - such as lost cats or other older, now likely out of date pieces of paper.

Adriaan keeps his date's arm in his as he pays his own half, perfectly willingly ("How we did it back home," he explains). He then escorts the lady to the table and seats her before taking a seat himself. He takes one brief look at the decor. Then he buries himself in his menu. Unpleasant memories were coming to the fore and he wanted to keep them buried as much as possible.

He was tempted to order a strong glass of wine, but stopped himself. Getting drunk might feel good for a moment, but he could easily say something he didn't mean to. So he just decided to order a diluted glass of mead and some roasted chicken. Possibly a small live animal if it were expressly listed on the menu. He'd talk politely to the waiter, but he'd only say enough to get his order across before handing back his menu.

Then he takes a quick look around the room, searching for a good target to network with. Unfortunately, he isn't exactly familiar with this class of people, so he winds up a little lost. "So," he asks his table-mate, trying his best to sound cool, "anyone look good to approach?"

By the time the waiter extends his hand toward the two catfolk Brelia already has her hand in her coinpurse, digging out ten of the gold she had gotten as a reward for fighting off the plant monster. More than likely the folks here were not in the crowd, so they will likely not attract much attention to themselves among these higher-class folk. She places ten cold into his hand, then walks with Adriaan to the table, where she sits down at his behest. "Well aren't you quite the gentleman?" she teases once the two of them sit down, as she, too, opens up a menu and briefly peruses its contents.

She doesn't pay attention to the menu for very long, instead looking over her menu at whatever other diners there are. In particular she looks for familiar faces from the crowds in the coliseum, though she also looks for owners she'd seen mulling about, as well as other coliseum personnel, whether they be guards, announcers, or medics she may know.

https://orokos.com/roll/704855 Perception = 10 What does a 10 have Brelia see...?

Once she's done giving her glance around, she takes another look down at the menu before looking back up at the waiter. "The same drink he's having. And I would like some clam chowder, along with the turkey lasagna. Oh, and may I keep a copy of the menu for now? We may opt for dessert later tonight."

Once the waiter has departed with the orders, she turns back to her date. "Mmm... I might," she says. "But the mealtime is still young, you know? It is a little early to be socializing with the others. Patience, patience. I'll give it another look later on."

Tilting her head a bit in thought, as she gave Irice's question some time to circulate inside her head, Nilia eventually just shook her head and simply stated, "No, I don't think so. Maybe if we were in some rowdy tavern getting too drunk to stand straight, but where they are, I am sure Adriaan is keeping a leveled head!

With Jon plopping down next to Nilia, who of course would mainly focus on eating and somewhat keeping up with the noble table manners she had half-way learned, he likely would, at several occasions feel the naga's thick tail, and once even hip and bum, brush and push against him, as a serpentine tail instead of legs made sitting on a regular chair a bit of a unsteady hassle, especially when she at times needed to lean in over her great bowl of food to get what she wanted in the moment! Still, in between chewing and swallowing she did have the time to ask the human, "I feel a bit bad about dragging you here Jon, you aren't really one for large meals, right? So next time, when we aren't recuperating from a mean fight, you can pick the place and get more quality out of your coin, so that you don't pay for a ton of food you aren't going to eat anyways?"

As for the oread, Nilia would smirk, then just shake her head, before slipping in with a quick, teasing, "So you see the appeal of using slaves as food, but not as gladiators? That's kinda fucked up for a priestess of Torag, isn't it?", smirking away until she followed it up with a sighing, "Personally, making a meal out of something that can't fight back, like those lizards, is hardly more interesting than eating a steak... Though I will agree that large, live meals that actually put up a fight inside your gut is exhilarating, no matter how they ended up there! ... That being said, are you sure it's wise to start drinking so heavily already buddy? The night is still young, you know!"

Jon didn't mind the occassional physical contact with Nilia, unless she was actively trying to push him off the chair so she could have his food.
He listened to her thoughts and mulled about it for a moment.
"True, I'm not the biggest eater, but I haven't had a decent meal since before I was put in the arena. I want to at least get a good, decent sized meal before we head out to the fight again. And getting to sit and eat here is much better than to stand eating a meat on a stick, or to spend all my money on some pompious overcharged place."

He took a bite of a decent sized piece of meat that was well cooked.
"Also I wanted to have some company among people I know, and not a bunch of strangers."

Irice snorts at the talk of being a hypocrite with disdain. "Torag is a very lenient deity, allowing each of his forge smiths to find their own way. He's not one of such a stern moral code, I'm not sure he even condemns slavery. That's more of a racial thing than religious. These, though...well, they'll be devoured regardless, and they aren't humanoid or anything either. If it was tiny people I might have some qualms with that, but it seems that I might not be completely correct about some forms of being kept to participate in theatrical fighting. I'd rather they were not made to do it against their will and that they were free, but sadly I can't impose my will upon the people, and it's the people that matter. If it was just the ones in power...well, maybe I'll come back one day and overthrow this government, with a construct so powerful forged by my own hands that they have to bend to my will...but that's getting ahead of myself. Right now, I simply want to have a filling meal, much good dwarfen mead, and maybe some companionship later. I need to get to work forging a new warhammer...I didn't forge this one after all, and He'd rather I use a weapon forged by my own hands than one I buy, same with armor." She looks Nilia up and down in an appraising manner. "Perhaps with your arms, you could aid me working the forges. When I set up my business, I'll need apprentices after all." As she's speaking she's shoveling the food in her mouth, despite her small frame.

Looking at Jon, she wonders why he'd followed them there, though with the kitties occupied elsewhere and the faun...who knows what that ball of energy is doing? She suspects that his reason is good enough, though she's not quite as impressed by the human as she is with NIlia. "He definitely could use more to eat though, protein to put more muscle on him." She takes a long draft of her mead for a second before continuing. "You're uh...one of a kind in your lack of uniqueness. How a human got stuck with us...an overgrown snake, two furballs, a horny goat, and well..." her hands move in a presenting manner along her frame. "A stone-head, is beyond me. Maybe they thought one of us would eat you...though I think Nilia is fairly protective of you." She's careful to be more or less equally mocking of each one of their respective races besides Jon's, though she suspects Nilia may not appreciate it as much. "Anyways, I don't think we quite planned on where to meet at, but we shouldn't have too much difficulty tracking the others down. I just hope our next mission doesn't pit us against such a creature again."

"Yah," Kay tells the shy gal by the info board. "That's us! Shoulda killed the plant too, but it ran away too fast. Hope it doesn't come back, yeah?" She grins. "Still means job's half done, though the reward's fine as is. But you know how adventuring is, you gotta keep moving." She pats the "reporter" on the back a bit hard, and then tears off the requests for wolf teeth and herbs and plants from the board, just so she doesn't have to stay sober enough to remember anything. With that done, she hits up the cheapest place she can find to get some drink and some cheap food to settle her stomach a day after eating a 'gladiator', and then staggers to her temporary inn "home" to sleep it off. Alone.
