Star Crash, Culture Clash.

Postby Siuddithsi » Wed Nov 29, 2017 4:31 am

The “Starhunter” was barely controllable as they piloted a course toward the island on the class M planet beneath them. This was the source of the intermittent staccato radio waves. The closer they had gotten to the planet, the slower their computers had gotten. Now, they were running on minimal programs, all but essential guidance had been shut down to try and make an emergency landing. Too late, the staccato radio signal had been identified as a warning to stay away, in an obscure Terran communication called “Morse Code”.

On the ground, a young woman wearing a corset and bustle, her hair under a top hat with goggles on the hatband, watched from horseback. Hundreds of miles away, a hunting party of fairies watched. Elsewhere, other “fantasy” creatures watched a huge, fire belching object, or monster, of metal blaze through the sky and come to rest on the Isle of Queensland.

The damage is repairable, but they’ll need to reboot the mainframe to factory settings and program workarounds to deal with the tech-hostile environment. A team is chosen to travel to the city a week’s walk away, and see if they can find material for repairs and fuel.

Meanwhile, several fantasy races sent scouts to check on the strange falling star.

This RP is the classic “Starfaring race crash lands on a magical “fantasy” world” trope. Up to 6 RP’ers can participate, as “Team Fantasy World” or “Team Galactic Alliance”.

“Fantasy” characters are typical fantasy races who’d be drawn to the sight of a crashing starship. Gnomes would be thinking “Was that a flying machine? Cool! Maybe I can copy the plans.” Dwarves would think “maybe I can salvage the metal for some cash”. Elves would think “We’d better check if that’s a threat”. Fairies would think “Ohhh, shiny! Lets check it out!” Orcs would think “I wonder if their weapons are as advanced as their craft. Maybe they’ll trade”. Lizard men, goblins and Yuan-Ti would think “If that blows up, the crew’s body parts will be crunchy. Yum!” Humans could think any of the above. Fighters think like orcs, wizards like gnomes, thieves like dwarves. Note that Clerics can cast maximum 3rd level clerical spells, except near their home church, druids are run as normal AD&D but have a vorish reincarnation option for reasons that will be clarified later. Dragons, Naga’s, Beholders, undead and other overwhelming monsters won’t appear, both because it’s a relatively civilized area and because they’re too unbalancing (“The dragon eats everybody. Game over” won’t be happening unless you piss off the GM).

The crew of the Starhunter, a medium
Spoiler: show
-about 60 meters long, 20 meters wide aft and 20 feet high, save for gun turrets and sensor nodules- she looks like a larger brother to the Millennium Falcon and is about twice its size.
scout ship with a crew of 10 + captain, only 3 max of which will be trying to reach civilization for aid) will be unified in purpose, if not in species. Known members of the Galactic Alliance include humans and human like species, the Larisians (bunny people), the Europans (aka ‘bovines’, they named themselves after Europa from Earth legend after terrans saved them from slavery. Think minotaurs but the females have 4-6 breasts/udders from chest to lower stomach, D-cups before they start milking), several types of insectoids including the Arkanian hive minds and the Gn’hoth (a super-cute race resembling Anime characters with huge eyes and androgynous bodies, but devious minds/culture). If you like a species from science fiction, they’re probably here under a different name.

The goal of the RP is for the crew of the Starhunter to interact with natives, get to civilization, get what they can for repairs and fuel, and get off planet safely with minimal loss of life on all sides. Players can decide the nature of the crew, but they aren’t bloodthirsty though they may be criminal. The goal of the natives is to see if the crew is a threat, or if there’s something they have in common to trade.

Vore: Most fantasy races you’ll encounter will more likely be hard vore, if they eat people (orcs, lizard men, goblins, insectoids, etc.) Your best bet at soft vore would be to find a wizard with a shrink spell and a twisted imagination.

Sex: Not just tolerated but encouraged.

Environment: Temperate, Mediterranean to mountain and seacoast, that allows magic but inhibits technology. There’s a reason they haven’t gotten past the “Steampunk” level of technology.

So if you’re interested, use the following format to apply (since we had trouble crewing the Starhunter, I'll use a Gn'hothi as an example):
Character Name, Species, Gender & Team: Mneta Ulara, Gn'hothi, female, Team Galactic Alliance.
Appearance: About 4' 5" tall, Black chest length hair, pale skin, makeup to match other women around her, C-cups, waifishly thin, wears skintight latex looking white uniform with black trim, a wide utility belt and flat heeled boots. Mneta's species, the Gn'hoth, apparently evolved from tarsier like primates. Their eyes are huge, making them look like Anime drawings come to life, and most humanoid species find them incredibly cute. The drawing below is a Tarsier, imagine those eyes in a human face
Spoiler: show
Image

Weapons: laser pistol (currently too slow for an effective fast weapon but can still start fires or deliver damage as an overload burst then drain) and dagger as a side arm.
Personality: Professional but timid, aroused by fear, will attempt seduction to gain allies.

The island was mostly mountainous, so a sea approach was taken by the crew of the Starhunter, parallel to the shore until the speed of the craft was low enough to land safely. She rested at the base of a cliff, at a stretch of beach above the high tide line. They were relatively safe for now, and began to chose a search party.

Character Name, Species, Gender & Team: Shyael Cairen, Woodelf, female, Team Fantasy World.
Appearance: Burnette, no-makeup, tan woodelf skin, DD-cups, hourglass build, and wears “Steampunk” style - corset, bustle, goggle headband, thick traveling boots and corset, frilly green blouse, Brown pants.
Weapons: (Not that she means to promote sterotypes but...) Elvish magical longbow, and a magic dagger as side arm, and a 6-barreled primitive pistol which she hardly ever uses because 1:3 shots fail but still in a pinch it packs a whollup, amulet of infinite reformation.
Personality: a little haughty but not as much as most elves being raised among humans yet it's in her blood to feel superior, fairly open about her bisexuality (for the era anyway), a little on the carefree side taking danger a little too lightly and falling back on her increased woodelf reflexes, still she makes a good scout because like any other woodelf once she hits the woods most people just see her vanish-unless she wants them to see her.

Shyael witnessed this monstrosity come down from on high, having no context behind it she wondered if the gnomes were trying to attack, possibly just doing something stupid and it blew up in her face. But either way she should investigate, she loaded up her pistol just in case and strung her bow looking to see if anyone else dared go with before she would venture out into the wild in the direction of the billowing tower of smoke.

Mneta paced as she waited for her scouting assignment. Like most Gn'hothi women she was about 4 feet tall, and thin. She had originally trained for the spy corps, she got her martial arts training as well as her breast and lip enhancements (c-cups were huge for a Gn'hoth female) from that service. She wore her contact uniform, white with black rank markings to try and show natives she had nothing to hide, standard boots and a tool/weapon belt. She grabbed a few pages of commonly used phrases, since the universal translator would be useless. She'd been trained in several languages, but who knows if the natives spoke them. She tested her laser at the ships target range. The slowness that had debilitated their technology affected the laser too, the beam that could normally cut through flesh, bone and thin sheet metal only gave a beam powerful enough to ignite paper and smolder wood. Maybe the overload setting would release enough energy to be effective. She brought a dagger and pocket baton just in case. She was nervous, since the sanctions against her species she'd seen many friends executed and eaten. She wasn't sure if her fear was enough to be diagnosed as PTSD, but she was certain that she'd developed a peril fetish. When afraid, she wanted to fuck, to make a friend out of an enemy, but she knew that was a dangerous way to make friends. Already she was wet and her puffy nipples swollen to the size of a pair of plums. She retreated to her cabin and used her favorite, um, 'relaxation toy', to calm down before disembarking. Afterward, relaxed, she dried off with a towel and reported for duty.

Shyael noticing nobody appeared interested in going, but SOMEONE had to, made sure she had plenty of arrows and left town to go see what had come so close, and whether it was dangerous. Making sure to grab a rangers cloak before she left and headed out of town. hitting the woods, and expecting nobody will see her moving quick enough to get there fast, but not enough to tire her out. Curiosity, and comfort with the region winning out over caution so far. Occasionally checking on the abundance of wildlife in case everyone died in the explosion, she could hunt on her way back.

((The lord of the rings cloak seems like an awesome idea, but I'm just going with a patchy green and brown cloak))

(IIRC the LOTR cloak is essentially chameleon camouflage. It's common enough with elves I'll allow it if you want. Note that the powder for your gun is VERY expensive as regular gunpowder doesn't work here.)

Everyone else was helping with repairs, so Mneta was alone. She got cable and a grappling hook to help scale the cliff and began walking up the beach looking for an easier place to climb.

Shyael, after a long time traveling was resting near the side of the cliff face, she was thinking she should be close there was a pass down nearby, she knew it. Too bad one of the rangers weren't with her but they were out doing there thing to the south. But she was thinking from their stories, so she would necessarily be right, then again she might not agree with the rangers on what they considered to be a 'pass'.

Mneta had walked for miles when she came to a possible way up. Shifting geologic strata had left an angled ledge about 3 feet wide, up the side of the cliff face. It showed a bit of wear that suggested enough people and creatures had used it, to erode it just a bit. She began walking up. Thirty feet from the top of the cliff, the ledge broke away. Well, she was close enough to use the grappling hook.

Shyael could have sworn the rangers said the ledge was around here somewhere. She began to walk further, to search for it, when she heard a sound. “Whoosh, THUNK, rustle, rustle”. What was that? She looked in the direction the sound had come from. Soon she saw the glint of a metal object and thin cable being thrown, “whoosh”. It hit the ground with a “THUNK”, and was tugged through the grass, “rustle, rustle”. This time, it caught on a small bush. The bush seemed fairly sturdy, several branches close to 2 inches thick nestled together at the trunk. There were several tugs on the cable before someone was satisfied it held firm, then the cable went, and stayed, tight.

Shyael spent a moment to decide if she should look over the cliff face or wait for someone to arrive.

Mneta paused to attach the auto winder to the cable, and work up her courage. She drew her dagger and wedged it into the rocks as she went, just in case there was a problem with the cable, and began climbing.
(If Shyael looks over the edge, Mneta will be about 5 ft up from the ledge at the time.)

Shyael was familiar enough with the concept of a grappling hook at least to have a rough idea of what that was. But not sure the kind of person who'd actually be carrying one around, she knocked an arrow on her bow and waited patiently for whoever was coming up. Moving behind a bit of cover, she'd wait. Partially because there may be more than one person and right now she had the advantage, not something she wanted to lose, since most of what she'd heard of grappling hooks is there use for scaling city walls. So she waited, however the moment Mneta was visible she jumped with a start before stammering in common. "Wh-what manner of....thing? Are you?"

Character Name, Species, Gender & Team: Cheerwind Zephyrside, Fairy, Female, Team Fantasy World
Appearance: Roughly a foot tall, wearing a spider silk robe, adorned with decorative flowers and beads. Long, waist length hair, a beautiful fiery red, to frame a bright, cheery face. A medium build, with perky C cups. Light, opal wings.
Weapons: Fairy Druid magic (treat as a 3rd level Druid), focused through a small rose wood wand. Cunning wit, used playfully.
Personality: A playful, almost childish sort, who struggles to stay focused, preferring games and tricks over her duties. Never means anyone any harm, but her nature can get her and those around her in trouble.

Mneta spoke galactic common (kind of like Esperanto for space, designed to be pronounceable by most species, but unknown by planet bound civilizations) so Shyael didn't understand her. Seeing a short pointy eared species, she thought of what races resembled that. Fortunately there were spacefaring elves, so she had a few words of the language. So she struggled to remember her elvish and managed to come out with a bad, but understandable elvish version of "Don't shoot. I come in peace. I ask for help".

(Mneta looks like a short, thin human except her eyes are huge, as if her kind were descended from Tarsier like primates (below), consequently almost all humanoid races view her kind as "incredibly cute. Her skintight spacesuit might raise eyebrows in a medieval society though)

(Cheerwind the fairy is fine, except I've PM'ed you some differences in how I run fairies. You'd show up at about this time in the story, but could come here or go to the ship)

The massive... thing, crashing into the world from the sky like meteor had been seen from all around, and even in the Fairy Courts concern spread about the nature of the thing. Cheerwind was probably not the first choice to send to investigate, possibly not even the second, but some of the more practiced scouts were away, and she was what they had.

A crackle of magic occurred int he forest, with the pop of a teleport and Cheerwind Zephyrside stood in the forest, looking around her to try and gain her bearings. She was just over a foot tall, with a medium build and a long spider silk robe that covered her. Holes had been made like they were in all Fairy clothing for the wings, opal, and shimmering in the sun light. She held fast to her wand, bent her knees, and jumped up, her wings taking over and flew up above the trees...

She didn't see it, she was certain something like that would have left a hole in the trees and a crater. Perhaps it had hit the coast below the cliffs, or into the water itself. She stayed low to the canopy as she flew over the tips of the tops of trees, towards the water, keeping an eye on the world below her to see if anyone else was investigating.

Cheerwind flew toward the coast (no unusual signs or sounds in the forest) and looked around when she reached the cliff ledge. To her south was a huge metal thing, about 200 feet long, shaped like an "A" connected to a "D" at the wide points of both. There were skid marks where it had slid through the sand and come to rest at the cliff face, above the high tide mark. The skid marks weren't too deep, and no crash marks against the cliff, so apparently they were able to control their fall.

As she gets closer, she sees a single set of footprints in the sand leading away from the ship. Where they start, she can see the outline of a door. She's seen enough sailing ships to realize that it would be unlikely to just have one crew/passenger on board a ship this size, and a lone inventor probably couldn't have built something this big. Does she want to knock on the door, and face the crew (if she's right) or go after the scout?

This was... something else! It was massive, and actually left a lot less damage than it should have. Perhaps it had slowed down and landed, it may actually be some kind of... sky ship, but like no sky ship she had ever seen. She zipped down the cliff and came up next to it, landing on the top, and touching it to feel... metal? A metal sky ship from space. She walked to the end of the ship, and came down to see... foot prints.

Great, she had no idea what it was or why it was here, and one of it's crew had already left and gotten off somewhere! If they were dangerous that wasn't good, and if they were dangerous being caught by the rest of the crew by herself was going to see her wings snipped as well! Perhaps it would be best to follow the one and see if she could figure out why they were here, but she didn't want to leave the ship here unattended as well.

She raised her wand, and a Charm Animal erupted from her wand to smack a nearby bird, who came and landed next to her. "Watch this door, if anyone leaves from it, find and let me know!" She patted the bird on the wing, before fluttering off to follow the foot prints.

(your charm attracts a seagull, "Squ-aaawk!". You realize that it may get hungry watching, so I assume that a druid would carry bird seed as a bribe. You scatter some around. "Awwwk!" it cries, and pecks at the seed while it watches the door.)

You quickly follow the footprints and arrive at the top of the cliff in time to see an elf aiming a bow at...a strange, short woman with black, chest length hair flowing down her back. She wears a skintight white outfit that looks very much like what humans call "long johns". You swerve your flight path to stay out of the elf's line of fire and that's when you're close enough to hear the strange woman say "...I come in peace. I ask for help". Then you're looking at her from the front and notice that her eyes are very large, making her look cute.

Shyael relaxed the bowstring keeping the arrow knocked, sat a little at ease by the claims of peace however still unsure, before switching over to elvish "What are you...? Who are you? What was that crash?" she said wondering if she was human, although the elf girl had lived with humans their whole life, she was a closest a mutant of some sorts.

She followed the foot steps in the sand, easy, the made no effort to hide their movements, apparently. They ended abruptly though, close to the cliff edge, and she deduced what had happened there, they had climbed the cliff edge. That looked way hard, but it was the only reasonable thing with the foot prints as they were. She ascended, foot prints would harder to find away from the beach, but hopefully she'd...

She'd not need to follow more prints, an elf, a cousin of her species, aiming a bow at... okay what was that? It was kind of like a human, or a monkey, with huge, adorable eyes, in some kind of weird suit. It was talking about peace and help, but words like that were easy to say! She kept herself at the edge of the cliff, only the top of her head peering over it to watch the two interact.

Elvish is a rare language in the Galactic Alliance so Mneta pulls out her "cliffs notes"* on languages that she got from the archives before she left the ship and has to refer to them to laboriously stammer through the following message. "I'm Mneta, Mneta Ulara. My people are the Gn'hoth. I'm a scout aboard the vessel "Starhunter". We detected a...message from this island. We thought it was a cry for help. By the time we realized it was a warning to stay away...our ship was damaged. We're trying to repair our ship so we can leave. Please help us. We can find some way to pay you."

* (if anyone thinks her notes are a magic spell, you realize even the lowest apprentice shows more magic talent than is seen in her body language. A "detect magic" (or danger, or evil, or alignment or truth) spell would be useful to confirm that)

Shyael looked a bit confused before saying, figuring her notes were actually a magic book "I'm a scout myself, I've never heard of the Gn'hath...so we're not at war..." mipronouncing the girls race name she put her arrow back in it's quiver "I have no idea what message you speak of, we allow all outsiders who come peacefully onto our lands. But I can lead you to town, and the elders can decide what to do with you." Looking at the fact she's not hiding that she's armed "Keep your weapons ready, because I don't know about your lands. But here there be monsters." She looked down the cliff wall to see if there were more outsiders, spotting cheerwind and asking "Are you with her?"
